Simple is profound

When I was just starting out as a holistic health practitioner, I used to wonder--worry actually--if I was effectively helping my clients.

Sometimes I would work with clients for a few times--or even just one time--and they went off into the world never to be heard from again.

But as it turns out, there was nothing to worry about.

The work I do with my clients is simple, yet very profound. Oftentimes, we get so much accomplished in just a few sessions that they don’t need me anymore.

While this may not be the best business model, it’s the part of my work that I love most.

That I can give my clients necessary--but not well known--guidance and education around simple shifts that are powerfully healing.

Often these simple shifts are chosen on a case by case basis taking into account the individual. My approach is definitely not a one size fits all kinda thing.

To illustrate the power of simple shifts, I want to share Jill Jack’s story with you (don't worry, she gave permission to use her name).

In fact, you might even know her!

Jill Jack is a Detroit based singer songwriter known for her soulful voice and dynamic storytelling. (I’m paraphrasing her website). She has a gorgeous voice and I highly recommend checking out her music if you're not familiar with it.

Jill is a perfect example of the power of simple shifts. This is what Jill had to say two years after working with me…

“From the time I started singing professionally, I began having respiratory problems.  I definitely attributed it to smoky bars.  But even after I stopped performing anywhere that allowed smoking, I still had bronchitis, pneumonia and many other sinus and respiratory issues at least two or three times a year.

The problem was my schedule didn't allow me to be sick, so I kept performing until I couldn't function. I was so tired of this.  Thirty years later and I was still struggling.

I asked my medical doctor how we could prevent this.  He had always been on hand to get me the quickest fix. The strongest antibiotic. The most intense inhaler.

My husband is a respiratory therapist and sales rep so we had everything I needed there.

My body, my ribs, my back, everything was just so tired. My Doctor looked at me with a blank stare when I asked for a preventative answer. It's not his fault.  He is there to treat the disease, not prevent it.

Out of frustration, I was talking to my neighbor about it.  That is when she recommended that I reach out to her friend.  I looked up Rachel's website and it looked promising.  I was willing to try anything.

We had an hour-long consultation.  She asked me strange questions like,

Where do I eat my lunch? What foods am I eating? How much sleep do I get? And on and on.

After the consultation she gave a few recommendations. One that struck me as odd was to eat warm food for breakfast.

She also suggested that if it was nice outside, to sit outside to eat with no phone, no book, just nature. Take in the sounds and sights of the beauty.

I was the girl that used to barely realize I ate my breakfast because I was typing while I was eating, or muting my call to chew while on a conference call.

This was all very strange to me, but I thought, I’m willing to try anything!

It was a wonderful experience!!! I was so calm.  My stomach was relaxed!

She also recommended a supplement to help with severe respiratory infections.

I am here to say - two years later - I have not had one cold, not one respiratory infection and I thoroughly enjoy my breakfast staring at nature.

Rachel is a kind, soft spoken, great listener, non judgmental, inspiring human. I am so thankful for her being on this planet!”

I love Jill's story because she made some really simple shifts that weren't hard for her, and indeed, improved her health and increased her quality of life.

The shifts themselves, however, are quite profound as they take into account every aspect of Jill's physiology. For instance, there is a strong connection between the gut, stress and immune system.

By shifting Jill's eating habits and choices, she was able to support herself in very tangible ways.

I share Jill's story because it isn't unique, it's actually pretty common.

So if you've been waiting to put your life and your health first, now is the time to take one simple - but powerful - step towards feeling your best.

Your first step can be as simple as booking an FREE health consultation with me.

Remember, simple is profound. What is one simple shift you can make today?!
